Home of Mat 145: Combinatorics
Welcome to MAT 145!
This class this about combinatorics, the mathematics of counting. However simple the term counting may seem, we will see quickly that doing so requires quite a bit of ingenuity. In particular, we will be covering combinatorial tools (counting of ordered/un-ordered subsets, induction, pigeonhole principle), binomial coefficients and identities, Fibonacci numbers and recurrences, asymptotic analysis of combinatorial expressions, graph theory (cycles, trees, paths, etc), and (time permitting) some geometric applications (Eulers formula).
