INTRODUCTION TO LINGUISTICS

This flipped course features once-a-week face-to-face class meetings with a TA paired with online learning activities that replace the standard lecture component. Open access and free course materials make it so that there is no textbook for students to buy. These materials are integrated into interactive lesson units and tests that are presented as assignments in the Quizzes module.

Some of these materials, which include YouTube and TED video clips, Prezi shared-media clips, and wikis and web pages, were produced by Patrick Farrell and former co-instructor and course co-author Kristen Greer. Others are exemplary products of other professionals in the language education field. And yet  others are the products of outstanding term projects done by students in earlier instantiations of this course.
