Text: Thomas’ Calculus: Early Transcendentals 13th Edition

Prerequisites: Math 21A, 21B, or equivalent. This material is in Chapters 1-9 of our text.

Course Material: We will be covering Chapters 10, 12, 13, and 14, following pretty closely to the Department Syllabus: https://www.math.ucdavis.edu/courses/syllabus_detail?cm_id=56

Grading: Your course grade will be based on

30% Quizzes

30% Midterm

40% Final

Quizzes: There will be homework problems assigned every day, posted on Canvas. We will have a quiz at the beginning of class twice a week, on every Tuesday and Thursday. The quiz will be based on the previous homework assignments. It is vital to keep up with the homeworks; summer classes are on a very quick schedule. The lowest 2 quiz scores will be dropped. There are no make-up quizzes, so any missed quizzes will count toward the lowest 2 dropped scores.

Midterm: The midterm will take place on Monday August 28 during regular class time.

Final: The final will be during regular class time on the last day of class: Thursday September 14.

The tests will be closed book and closed notes. There are no make-up exams.

Curve: I expect to curve the final grades in the course based on the class performance on the tests. Thus the grade that Canvas tells you based on your number of points in the course is not necessarily your actual grade in the class.

Academic Integrity: There is zero tolerance for cheating in this class. Any cases of academic dishonesty will be taken to the Student Judicial Affairs. Students are expected to have read, to have understood, and to act in accordance with the Code of Academic Conduct, available at http://sja.ucdavis.edu/cac.html.

Disability Accommodations: Any student with a documented disability who needs to arrange reasonable accommodations must contact the Student Disability Center (SDC). Faculty are authorized to provide only the accommodations requested by the SDC. If you have any questions, please contact the SDC at 530/752-3184 or sdc@ucdavis.edu.

Registration Deadlines: Last Day to Add Classes: August 11
