Basics of the System: At first encounter, Honorlock is based on an AI function: if all goes smoothly, the AI might be all you encounter. The secondary proctoring operation involves live, U.S.-based human proctors and will appear if a security flag is generated in the taking of your exam. Your exam will be taken on the Canvas Quizzes site after Honorlock unlocks the exam for you.
Scheduling: None required. You can get onto the system and take the exam at any time during the exam period at a private location of your choice. Once the exam window opens (see course schedule dates here: Assignments), the exams will become available through the "Honorlock" link in the navigation bar. It is strongly recommended you do NOT wait until the last moment, as you can always run into unforeseen technical difficulties. Strategic planning for technical contingencies is an essential aspect of creating a successful computational workflow: it is YOUR responsibility to have a scheduling plan that foresees contingencies and buffers (once digital systems shut down, they shut down by the second they are pre-programmed to do so...).
Support: Honorlock is an external service provider to UC Davis. The teaching faculty and TAs do not have access to their system. Please get support through the provided chat window, which is available 24/7, and deal with them as you would with any tech-service-provider. During the exam, you can reach the support team directly through the livechat bubble located at the bottom right.
